Aslan Antik: Restoring Old Wood While Preserving Its Character

The Design Approach
Aslan Antik brings together selected photographs of Atölye Aslan’s antique restoration and woodworking. Carved columns, reclaimed timber and a sculpture made from a single trunk demonstrate different ways of working with wood. The value of these objects is not limited to flawless surfaces. Traces of time can be part of their character.
Planning the Details
Document the condition before treatment. Review loose joints, surface losses, cracks and earlier repairs separately. Cleaning and strengthening methods should be compatible with the surface being preserved. Avoiding unnecessary material removal helps retain original detail. One standard treatment will not suit every object.
Applying the Idea to Your Property
When placing a restored piece in a new interior, consider lighting, moisture and how it will be used. Rather than making every object look new, a balanced approach can allow its past to remain visible. If you are considering timber restoration or antique details for a villa in Kalkan, share the object’s history and current concerns. Final treatment decisions should follow a physical assessment.
Explore the Project
The photographs illustrate work from our own project archive. Each property has different dimensions, conditions and priorities, so material and installation decisions need an individual review. Share photographs, a location and your requirements to begin a discussion.
